Government offices in the Denver metro will open late Thursday due to lingering effects of Wednesday’s extreme weather conditions.

State government offices will open at 10 a.m., according to a Thursday press release from the office of Colorado Gov. Jared Polis.

However, facilities “essential to public health and safety” will operate on normal schedules, and essential personnel must report to such facilities as regularly scheduled, the release stated.

Denver city offices will also open at 10 a.m., according to the city’s website.

The Colorado Supreme Court, Court of Appeals and State Court Administrator’s Office will all open at 10 a.m. Thursday, according to the Colorado Judicial Branch website.

Courts and offices in the 1st and 2nd judicial districts will open at 10 a.m.; in the 17th, they’ll open at noon. The El Paso County Courthouse in the 4th will be closed Thursday, and courts and offices in the 13th, 18th and 19th will be closed.

Parts of Colorado and Wyoming remain paralyzed in the wake of a massive late-winter blizzard that swept through the two states Wednesday.

The storm knocked out power to tens of thousands of homes and businesses, closed hundreds of miles of highway, stranded thousands of motorists, shut down airports and contributed to the death of a Colorado State Patrol officer who was hit and killed by a car while helping another driver.

Major highways in the two states remained closed Thursday morning as blizzard conditions persisted in some areas and crews continued searching for stranded motorists and worked to clear the roads. Denver International Airport reopened, but more than 600 incoming and outgoing were canceled early Thursday before operations could resume. Schools and government offices remained closed or delayed reopening Thursday.
