RTD gets $11M in federal grants for buses, roofs

The Regional Transportation District has been awarded a total of $11 million in federal grants for new buses and to replace roofs on its maintenance facilities, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.

The metro-Denver transit agency scored the lion’s share of the $15.9 million in grants for Colorado bus-transit projects awarded by the federal agency under its Buses and Bus Facilities Infrastructure Investment Program.

The grants for RTD were awarded in two blocks, the announcement said:

The Transportation Department also announced grants to other Colorado transit programs:

The federal Transportation Department said chose 107 projects to fund in all 50 states out of 339 projects submitted. The total cost of all submitted projects would have been about $2 billion, the agency said.
