The Pueblo Chieftain: OpenGov, but not all the way open

Pueblo County commissioners recently announced a new online tool that will make detailed information about the county’s budget available to ordinary citizens.

This tool, called OpenGov, will allow people to go through the budget line by line if they wish. They can see, for example, exactly how marijuana tax money is being spent. The new interactive feature is available on the county’s website.

Sounds wonderful, right? Well, there are a couple of troubling issues related to this. When they created OpenGov, county officials decided not to include detailed information about the salaries of county employees.
