One of the university’s researchers said it’s “ludicrous” to suggest any connection between easy access to the popular drug and the number of people living on our streets. Instead, CSU-Pueblo sociology professor Tim McGettigan said it’s more likely that Black Hills Energy is responsible.

“When you have a utility kicking thousands of families out of their homes in a community where there are no more than 35,000 family homes in one year, that’s 20 percent of the homes with utilities cut off,” McGettigan said. “And pushing those families out into the streets, you are definitely going to see an increase in homelessness.”
