The Loveland Reporter-Herald editorial: Lessons to be learned from successful event

This past weekend’s events in downtown Loveland appeared to be a fulfillment of the vision to create a core commercial district that would the focal point for community celebrations.

On Saturday night, it was difficult to find enough personal space to have a conversation, much less a reservation at a downtown restaurant or a close parking space. Such are the problems that are “good” to have in downtown – much better than the problem of empty storefronts and high crime.

The Loveland Fire and Ice Festival should be a good opportunity for city leaders to assess the progress of the downtown district as well as what future needs will need to be addressed.
