Insider Morris Saunders joins Capitol insider firm Sewald Hanfling

Brittany Morris Saunders is well known in Colorado’s business, political and philanthropic circles as the Downtown Denver Partnership’s senior vice president for economic development and public affairs.

On Feb. 21 she will be known as the president of local affairs for the Capitol insider firm Sewald Hanfling Public Affairs.

Morris Saunders also is leaving the Denver Planning Board, where she’s served since her appointment from Denver Mayor Michael Hancock in 2010. Previously she was the economic development director for Commerce City. In other words, she doesn’t need a business card at the Capitol.

“Our business has been built on leveraging the right tools and the right talent to serve our clients most effectively,” says principal R.D. Sewald. “Brittany is enormously talented and will be a great addition to our firm.”

Sewald worked for Gov. John Hickenlooper when Hickenlooper was Denver’s mayor. Before that he worked for Mayor Wellington Webb. Hanfling worked on Hickenlooper’s political campaigns and helped elect Hancock as mayor. They formed their business partnership in 2012.

Sewald Hanfling provided plaudits from those who have worked with Morris Saunders.

“Brittany is an incredibly strategic and thoughtful leader,” says Tami Door, president and CEO of the Downtown Denver Partnership. “She meets challenges head-on with her collaborative nature. She will be deeply missed by the Partnership team and I know that she will be a tremendous asset to our friends at Sewald Hanfling.”

Hancock said, “Brittany is one of the emerging political leaders of Denver. I am excited to see her take this next step in her journey.”
