This week at the Colorado Capitol: abortion, guns, health exchange, construction defects

Here are the highlights of the week ahead in the Colorado Capitol. Committee schedules are subject to change, and the calendar for bills on the floor for a vote changes daily. The schedule is available on the legislature’s website.

Monday

Final Passage of House Bills

House Bill 1038 to prevent corporal punishment of children in public schools, license child care facilities or specialized group home

House Bill 1068 to require that the Department of Transportation only consider proposals for public-private initiatives that will pay prevailing wages for construction labor

Senate Bill 5 to address handgun safety training courses for school employees and permitting certain school employees to carry concealed handguns in public schools

Senate Bill 113 to require that the total employer contribution rates for Public Employees’ Retirement Association employers in the 2018 calendar year are the maximum total employer contribution rates for future calendar years

Senate Bill 62 to clarify the right to free speech on campuses of public institutions of higher education
