A progressive sanctuary at the foot of Pikes Peak
Even in the environment of deep-red Trump love and Christian-right mega-churches, the Colorado Springs liberal is not alone.
A Colorado Springs meetup for liberals to “Meet, Greet and Plan” is scheduled for Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at a home in Fountain. The location is disclosed to those going. Anyone who talks of a “yuge” event or building a wall around Boulder probably will be sniffed out as a big orange spy.
As of Friday morning, 37 people had signed up.
“Wow, I did not expect to see so many sign up for this,” the meetup organizer posted. “Anyway, I’m thinking that our first meetup should be to plan our activities: what actions do we want to take, who do we want to lead this group, what should we do to protect the vulnerable over the next four years, etc.”
The posting includes a link to the Facebook page for the Safety Pin Brigade of Colorado, https://www.facebook.com/groups/safetypinbrigadeCOS/ “a group working to resist Trump in Colorado Springs,” the meetup post notes.
“I am 24 year old library clerk and graduate student. I don’t have any experience in activism but I hope that I can help the efforts to resist Right-Wing nationalism and religious fundamentalism in Colorado Springs and beyond….” a member listed as Daniel M.W. wrote in the meetup’s comments.
