BARTELS: Park County Clerk Debbi Green celebrates 2 milestones

Colorado Secretary of State Wayne Williams and Green’s co-workers, friends and family surprised Green with an anniversary/birthday party on Tuesday, when she turned 62.
Williams had told Green he would be stopping by her office Tuesday, but she figured it was just one of his visits with clerks to see their set-up and offer help from his staff. She got the keys to show Williams one of the offices and when they walked inside there was a crowd.
“Surprise!” everyone yelled.
The well-wishers included previous county clerk Barbara Pascoe, Green’s son Shawn from Denver, vendors and county workers from other departments. Green was appointed clerk and recorder in 2001 and is serving her fourth term.
“Everybody said, ‘The look on your face was worth a million dollars,'” Green said. “I looked at Wayne and he was, ‘Yeah, I knew.’
“I cried. I haven’t been this surprised since I thought my son wasn’t going to be here for Christmas and there was a knock on the door.”
