Colorado lawmaker says FBI ‘part of’ assassination attempt on Donald Trump
A Colorado state legislator said he believes the FBI had a hand in the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Rep. Scott Bottoms, R-Colorado Springs, told worshipers at Church at Briargate, where he is the lead pastor, that the assassination attempt was part of a plot to kill Trump before the November election.
Republican Scott Bottoms of Colorado Springs, known for his extreme rhetoric, claimed without evidence that the FBI is part of a plot to kill the former president.
He added that the only reason the former president wasn’t dead was because he is “protected by God.”
“I believe the FBI is part of this,” he said. “They’ve been part of it from the beginning.”
Bottoms also said that if Trump is not dead or in jail before November, the election won’t happen.
“They want him dead,” he said. “They do. And it will not stop unless they can somehow make that happen or put him in jail.”
Trump was holding a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania when a gunman shot him. A bullet pierced Trump’s ear. The former president was quickly whisked from the stage by Secret Service agents, his ear covered in blood. The gunman was killed and a bystander also died.
Bottoms did not respond to Colorado Politics’ request for comment.
