Nominations sought for Outstanding Youth, Outstanding Youth Groups | NONPROFIT REGISTER

NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY DAY

Denver

News: Nominations are now being accepted for two special awards that will be presented at the 2024 National Philanthropy Day Luncheon: Outstanding Youth and Outstanding Youth Group.

The Outstanding Youth award will go to an individual youth volunteer under the age of 18 who has demonstrated excellent commitment to the promotion of philanthropy and volunteerism through their work in the community. Outstanding Youth Groups are those whose members are primarily 18 years old and younger who also demonstrate their commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism through community service, and act as role models for others.

The winner in each category will receive a $3,000 cash award, sponsored by the Boettcher Foundation.

Bryce Hunter, the 2023 Outstanding Youth, founded the Can Campaign, which gives canned food to unhoused people. During the distribution, he engages in conversations with the recipients to ensure their voices and acknowledged and valued. In addition, he runs a coding program for students in at-risk elementary schools.

“I feel like this award was very motivating for me,” Hunter said. “Through getting recognized, I’m able to realize in myself that I do have this potential. I do have this power in me, and it’s been very inspiring.”

Former Outstanding Youth Group winners include Womxn of East, the Montrose High School Interact Club, Grandview High School Student Equity, Smoky Hill High School Student Government, Vilas Livestock 4-H Club and Mountain Vista High School Student Leadership.

Nominations, due July 17, can be made by visiting afpcc.org
