News: For the sixth year, haute couture and hot cars teamed up to make Rev the Runway a six-figure success for National Jewish Health.
The Nov. 2 event, held at the Mercedes-Benz of Denver showroom, was chaired by the Warren Cohen family – Warren, Denise, Max, Dan and Emily – and the 480 guests helped raise $325,000. The Cohens also were the Title Sponsors while the dealership joined Neiman Marcus Cherry Creek as Presenting Sponsors.
Warren Cohen, a member of the National Jewish Health board, is the co-founder and principal of D4 Urban, a “creative, mixed-use real estate development firm” perhaps best known for its purchase and subsequent redevelopment of the former Denver Design Center. He also is the founder of Cohen Capital and was a founding shareholder of MegaBank Financial Corp., with whom he held leadership roles until 2000, when it was sold to Compass Bank.
Rev the Runway got underway with a cocktail party where guests could place silent auction bids, while indulging in small bites from Safta, Jing, Ocean Prime, Le Bilboquet, Narrative, Postino at 9+CO and Dessert Holdings.
Guests entered the luxury auto showroom on a red carpet where mistress of ceremonies Lauren Whitney, chief meteorologist for CBS4, channeled Hollywood award season hosts by asking the well-turned-out attendees, “Who are you wearing?”
Linda Fiest and Jack Savoie arrived in L’Agence and Jason Wu, respectively; Meg Stewart was lovely in lavender by Chanel, and Angela Cote had selected a sequin-embellished jumpsuit by Nadine Merabi.
Neiman Marcus Cherry Creek has provided the haute couture looks for Rev the Runway since Year One, and for the 2023 edition treated the audience to clothing and accessories by designers from London, Paris, Milan and other fashion capitals.
The evening’s live auction took a fun twist when auctioneer Halie Behr was joined on stage by Denver Nuggets power forward Aaron Gordon. Not only did he autograph six basketballs for Behr to sell, but he also added a personal touch by tossing them to each of the bidders that had paid $3,500 per ball. And posing for pictures with the recipients.
New this year was an after-party where night owls in the crowd could stay on for drinks, chicken sandwiches from Birdcall and dancing to tune spun by KDJ Above.
About the organization: National Jewish Health, founded 124 years ago in Denver, is the nation’s leading respiratory hospital and the only facility in the world that is dedicated exclusively to groundbreaking medical research and treatment of children and adults with respiratory, cardiac, immune and related disorders.
