ROCKY MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIES

Denver

News: Mark Marshall is the new chief executive officer for Rocky Mountain Communities, a Denver-based nonprofit that provides affordable housing and other services throughout Colorado.

For the past two years, Marshall had been the organization’s vice president of real estate development.

“Considering Mark’s breadth of experience in affordable housing, we know Rocky Mountain Communities will continue to thrive and grow under his leadership,” said board chair Greg Litvak. “While serving as interim CEO, and during his time as vice president of real estate development, Mark proved that he can strategically lead the organization in growing its portfolio while continuing to focus on what matters most: our residents, their health and well-being.”

In his previous post, Marshall oversaw all aspects of affordable real estate development, including site acquisition, land use and zoning analysis, financial feasibility and construction administration.

He grew RMC’s portfolio by supporting real estate deals that included opening The Commons in Colorado Springs with nonprofit partner Homeward Pikes Peak; acquiring Parkview Village West in Arvada; and, partnering with Evergreen Real Estate Group and GES Coalition on the development of a new affordable housing community in Denver’s Globeville neighborhood.

Prior to joining RMC in 2021, Marshall, a U.S. Air Force veteran, spent five years at the Urban Land Conservancy, where he began as director and advanced to vice president for real estate. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee and an MBA from Indiana University.

About the organization: Founded in 1992, Rocky Mountain Communities currently owns 10 communities, providing 1,239 affordable housing units for underserved populations statewide. It also manages an additional 300 units through its Pillar Property Services entity. Residents of these communities can take advantage of on-site programming that includes cooking and computer classes and after-school programs for kids.
