CHILDREN’S MUSEUM AT MARSICO CAMPUS

Denver

News: Bloom, a whimsical, nature-inspired space that is designed to be a “playful space for early learning,” is the latest addition to the Children’s Museum at Marsico Campus. It opened to the public on Oct. 16.

“When we set out to design this experience, we took a hard look at the latest research on the different types of play and their role in the cognitive, emotional and physical development for early learners,” said Mike Yankovich, the museum’s president and chief executive officer. “Based on what we learned, we designed Bloom to promote adult-child interaction, as well as the curiosity, exploration and empowerment of the museum’s youngest visitors.”

Bloom, Yankovich added, includes original art pieces that are woven throughout the space, making it a “truly one-of-a-kind immersive experience.”

Director of special projects Kerri Atter said that, with Bloom, “We wanted art and beauty layered into the entire exhibit, not just something that hung on the walls.”

“We worked with four different artists and numerous craftsmen who designed in tandem to bring the museum’s vision for Bloom to life,” Atter said. “I like to think of it as a meadow; all the pieces flow together, but, as you look closer, you see all the individual details that make Bloom a truly magical world.”

The museum is located at 2121 Children’s Museum Drive in Denver. Hours and ticket information can be found on its website.

About the organization: The mission of the Children’s Museum at Marsico Campus is to create extraordinary experiences that champion the wonder and joy of childhood. Its staff and volunteers believe in kid-powered learning and every day their expertly designed exhibits and programs open doors to Colorado’s curious young minds to express what they know and to discover, create and explore more – on their own terms.
