Vail Resorts requests removal of local capacity limitations at Colorado resorts
Vail Resorts announced on Tuesday that they’ve requested that capacity limitations put in place by Summit County are lifted. The Summit County requirements are more strict than those approved on a state-wide level.
Both Breckenridge and Keystone Twitter accounts made posts about the requests, both stating that resorts were “constrained by reduced capacities mandated by Summit County.”
According to Summit Daily, this request was discussed at a Summit County Board of Health meeting later in the day and it was decided that no changes would be made during the December holiday season. The concept of reducing or removing local capacity limitations was not ruled out completely.
Lack of social distancing continues to be reported at resorts around the state, including at those in Summit County. Lift lines and gondolas have been problem points.
The Summit County capacity limit was put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, as Summit County is a popular spot for both in-state and out-of-state tourism. Specifics about that capacity limit have not been released, as resorts are able to keep their skier numbers private as a ‘trade secret.’
