Adams County to expand mini-grant program

In response to Adams County’s stricter guidelines due to a spike in coronavirus cases, officials have expanded options to help those struggling due to the pandemic.
The county, through its Community and Economic Development Department, announced the $5,000 rent/mortgage assistance category of their mini-grant program, to assist landlord’s struggling to recover rent.
Previously the mini-grant program assisted business owners with business operations costs, technology upgrade costs, COVID-19 compliance costs and winterizing options.
“As we continue to face new challenges in moving from Level 2 to Level 3, we hope these additional efforts with our Mini-Grant and Small Business Stabilization programs can provide our business community with the help they need,” said Commissioner Mary Hodge, champion of the Business Support Response & Recovery Team, in a press release.
“The county will continue to look for ways to help our small businesses keep their doors open and retain their employees throughout the duration of this crisis.”
Officials said that business owners having trouble retaining employees during the pandemic could apply for up to $35,000 through their Small Business Stabilization Program that launched May 1.
On Wednesday evening, Adams County entered Safer At Home Level 3, which puts restrictions on indoor restaurants to 25% capacity — and a maximum of 50 people inside.
Retail stores are also restricted to 25% capacity.
