Douglas County launches individual, family COVID-19 assistance fund

Douglas County opened applications Wednesday for a financial assistance fund for families and individuals financially affected by COVID-19.
Douglas County residents could be eligible for assistance with food, medication, gas, burials, housing costs if provided an eviction notice, utility bills if provided a shutoff notice and motel costs if experiencing homelessness.
The Douglas County General Assistance Program is temporary and is intended to help with one-time emergency needs.
To be eligible for assistance, applicants must demonstrate their needs are a direct result of COVID-19 and show how they can meet their future expenses.
The assistance fund is paid for with money from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
Applications close on Dec. 15. Completed applications must be emailed to DHS.inbox@douglas.co.us or dropped off at Douglas County Human Services in Castle Rock.
Fund details and application forms are available at douglas.co.us. For questions or help with the application, call 303-688-4825.
