Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren on Saturday won endorsements from more than a dozen current and former elected officials in Colorado the day before she was scheduled to hold a rally in Denver.

Warren’s endorsers include state Sen. Tammy Story, state Reps. Dafna Michaelson Jenet and Susan Lontine, and former Senate President Joan Fitz-Gerald, the first woman to wield the gavel in the Colorado legislature’s upper chamber.

In addition, the senator from Massachusetts was endorsed by State Board of Education member Rebecca McClellan, former Pueblo County commissioner and House Minority Leader Sal Pace, and former Ambassador Dan Baer, who also headed Colorado’s Department of Higher Education.

An earlier endorser was Sen. Kerry Donovan of Vail, who stepped up to back Warren last September.

Warren will hold a town hall-style rally at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Fillmore Auditorium, 1510 Clarkson St., in Denver. Doors open at 1 p.m., and attendees can RSVP here.

Saturday’s round of endorsements bring to nine the number of Colorado legislators supporting Warren ahead Colorado’s March 3 presidential primary.

“Elizabeth Warren is a champion of the working class who has a proven track record of enacting meaningful change to protect working families,” said Story in a statement. “I know as president she will work tirelessly to fight the existential threat of climate change, ensure every student has access to high-quality public education, and work meaningfully towards racial and social justice.”

Said Michaelson Jenet: “It is time to have a leader who is strong and prepared, and quite frankly, can bring some sensitivity to the job of President. Our families deserve it. That leader is Elizabeth Warren and I’m proud to endorse her for President.”

Saying Warren fights to put powering the hands of people, Fitz-Gerald said, “We need to restore integrity and a sense of fairness to our society, and I have no doubt that Elizabeth will do just that.”

Other current and former Colorado officials threw their support behind Warren on Saturday, including Boulder County Commissioner Elise Jones, Broomfield Mayor Pro Tem Guyleen Castriotta, Northglenn Mayor Pro Tem Jenny Willford, Denver City Councilor Jamie Torres, Thornton City Councilor Julia Marvin and Denver Public Schools board member Angela Cobián.

Lizzy Stephan,  former executive director of New Era Colorado, also endorsed Warren.
