It’s a baby election, they say. Off-year elections have no drama.

Not so this year.

In a vote that could take the teeth out of the Taxpayers Bill of Rights, Proposition CC would allow the state to keep future tax refunds to support K-12 schools, higher education and transportation. In the other statewide ballot measure, Proposition DD asks voters to decriminalize online sports gambling and tax the proceeds to fund water projects. It’s a question made possible by a Supreme Court decision. STORY: Sports betting: Would it be a game changer for Colorado?

School board races in Colorado’s largest districts: In Douglas County, one challenger, Kory Nelson, has drawn controversy for a Facebook post over whether teachers should carry guns in school. The post ended with, “Let the D[emocrat] teachers wear the safety vests with the label ‘I don’t care to defend myself or my students’ with a bullseye.” STORY: School board races heat up in DougCo, JeffCo
