If there’s one thing Jared Polis knows, it’s greeting cards. Colorado’s governor first began to grow his massive wealth in the family greeting card business, which he took online and then sold for a fortune.

Thursday morning he and Michelle Barnes, the executive director of the Colorado Department of Human Services, are scheduled to unveil free greeting cards with the theme of addiction recovery, according to DHS.

This is from the administration that unveiled a splashy new state logo and turned a rockslide into a tourist attraction within a few months of taking office.

The cards are part of Colorado’s Lift The Label campaign to reduce the stigma around opioid addiction and recovery.

“The greeting cards will be available to Coloradans free of charge as a celebration of addiction recovery, the efforts of those working to achieve it, and the people who support and encourage them every day,” DHS said in a statement to reporters about the Thursday announcement, pointing out September is National Recovery Month.

Polis and Barnes will be joined by two card artists who are in recovery – Tabitha Aaron of Boulder and Kaley Jones of Colorado Springs – with a third artist, Jannah Farooque of Denver, who has family members who have struggled with addiction, and the state’s poet laureate, Bobby LeFebre.
