Plan for injection sites in Denver passes first reading
A pilot program to establish safe injection sites in Denver for drug users passed its first reading at Monday’s city council meeting.
Supporters say safe injection sites would give addicts a place to use drugs safely, and trained personnel at the sites will help keep users from overdosing and give them access to resources that could help them.
Opponents worry the plan would enable drug users.
Only one city council member, Kevin Flynn, voted against the proposal Monday. A final vote is scheduled for next Monday.
