Politics and barbecue share a ticket today in Colorado Springs. Here’s a look.
A heaping plate of barbecue and two helpings of talk about the issues facing Colorado. What could be tastier?
Today, we’re serving up the Colorado Civic Barbecue, an event that combines good food and a pair of debates featuring major-party candidates for governor.

It’s brought to you by The Gazette, Colorado Politics and El Pomar’s Forum for Civic Advancement. Kyle Hybl, president-COO of El Pomar, and Dan Steever, publisher of The Gazette, are official hosts. Colorado Politics’ Joey Bunch and political talk show host Aaron Harber emcee the debates. And Gazette editor Vince Bzdek and Colorado Politics staffers Ernest Luning, Erin Prater and I will be on hand to say hi.
The free event is at the Garden Pavilion at Penrose House, 1661 Mesa Ave., Colorado Springs. We’ll do the first debate of Republican candidates at 11 a.m. and the second, of the Democrats, will start about 1:45 p.m.
In between, we’ll serve up barbecue with music by a live bluegrass band.
