Walker Stapleton’s PAC drops six figures for first TV ads
DENVER – The super PAC supporting presumed Republican frontrunner Walker Stapleton is spending $100,000 to put its first ads on TV, Better Colorado Now told Colorado Politics Wednesday night.
The first round of spots for the 30-second TV and digital ad will begin running in the Colorado Springs area Thursday.
The ad hammers the theme the independent expenditure committee has been promoting on the radio the last two months: “Stapleton’s conservative record on strengthening our border, cracking down on sanctuary cities, bringing jobs to Colorado and protecting taxpayers.”
Better Colorado Now is spending $78,000 with four TV stations, KKTV, KOAA, KRDO and KXRM-FOX. The campaign plans to spend another $22,000 on cable spots locally on the Fox News Channel.
Counting radio spots statewide in February and March, Better Colorado Now has spent more the $250,000 on media to promote Stapleton.
“Walker Stapleton is a trusted conservative leader and the only candidate for governor with a proven conservative track record. He has led the fight to bring fiscal responsibility to state government by standing up to tax increases and fighting for fiscal responsibility,” Andy George, the director of Better Colorado Now, said.
“Walker Stapleton is the only Republican who can win in November.”
He faces a crowded Republican field against 10 other candidates, including Colorado Springs businessman Barry Farah, Douglas County entrepreneur Victor Mitchell, Attorney General Cynthia Coffman and retired investment banker Doug Robinson.
Here’s the script of the ad, called “Walker Stapleton: Champion.”
There’s one candidate for Governor who supports strengthening our border security.
There’s one candidate who will crack down on sanctuary cities; getting criminal illegal immigrants off our streets.
One candidate is the conservative we trust to keep our economy strong and bring jobs to Colorado.
And there’s only one candidate for governor with a proven record of protecting taxpayers from tax-and-spend liberals.
Walker Stapleton for governor. A conservative champion for Colorado.
