9News anchor Kim Christiansen, sports announcer Alan Roach aboard as DIA train voices
Denver sports announcer Alan Roach will continue his decadelong reign as the voice of Denver International Airport’s train, joined by KUSA 9News anchor Kim Christiansen.
More than 75,000 votes determined whose voice would best welcome travelers onto the train that serves its terminal and concourses, an airport news release says.
Roach and former 9News anchor Adele Arakawa have voiced the announcements since 2007.
A panel selected five men and five women – all Denver-area media personalities – from 60 nominees to be finalists for the recorded messages.
Christiansen and Roach will be invited to a professional recording session, and their voices will be heard on the train “in the coming weeks,” the release says.
Christiansen, who grew up in Arvada, has won seven Heartland regional Emmy awards and is devoted to the fight against breast cancer, the release says. Roach, who was born in Minnesota and moved to Colorado in 1990, “has become a prominent figure in the Denver sports broadcasting community, having announced thousands of professional sports games for the Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rapids and many high-profile national and global sporting events.”
