Memorial service announced for Republican activist Barbara Gessler
Several people have asked Colorado Poltics to keep them posted, and this weekend Scott Gessler shared the family’s plans for his mother’s memorial. Barbara Simich Gessler was much more in Republican political circles than the mother of the former secretary of state and 2014 gubernatorial candidate.
She passed away on Dec. 1 after a struggle with cancer. Her memorial service is planned for Jan. 7 at University Park United Methodist Church at 2180 South University Blvd. in Denver. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking well-wishers to consider a memorial gift to Concerns of Police Survivors or Leader Dogs for the Blind.
