Colorado Republicans offer legislative aides the real ‘House of Cards’

Here’s a job offer you don’t see every day, if you’re a high school graduate, interested in politics and filing. You have to hand it to Colorado House Republicans for spicing up the pitch:

Wikipedia puts it this way: “The series deals primarily with themes of ruthless pragmatism, manipulation, and power.”

The suspicious deaths at the Capitol are far below those in the Netflix thriller. And the IMDb “Parents Guide” rates the show’s violence as “moderate,” but the sex and nudity as “severe.”

Republicans are in the minority in the House.

If you or someone you know is interested, aides earn $12.50 an hour and usually work 20 to 35 hours a week from late December through May, including the ramping up and ramping down of the 120-day session.

“Ability and willingness to work long, sometimes odd hours,” is cited among the qualifications, however.

“These entry-level positions offer valuable work experience, networking opportunities and exposure to the political process in Colorado,” House Republicans say on their website.

You don’t see those skills at work so much on “House of Cards.”

The Republicans are looking for “basic computer skills” and those adept at social media.
