The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel editorial: A hidden gem exposed
For the second time in less than a year, a Grand Junction business or organization has been acquired by a major player in its field.
It happened last July when homegrown Rocky Mountain Health Plans struck a deal to join United Healthcare, the largest health insurer in the country.
It happened again this week when Jabil Circuit acquired the assets of Lewis Engineering “lock, stock and barrel,” along with 75 employees. Jabil is a Fortune 400 global manufacturer with 180,000 employees and 100 locations worldwide. It generates $18 billion in revenue a year by providing design engineering, manufacturing capability, supply chain services and logistics to other manufacturers across a wide spectrum of industries.
“We’re the biggest company you’ve never heard of,” Bill Frake, vice president of Jabil’s defense and aerospace group, told the Sentinel editorial board Thursday.
