Donald Trump endorses Republican Gabe Evans in Colorado’s tossup 8th Congressional District

President Donald Trump on Monday endorsed U.S. Rep. Gabe Evans, the first-term Republican in Colorado’s most competitive congressional seat.

“Congressman Gabe Evans is an America First Patriot who is doing a fantastic job representing Colorado’s 8th Congressional District!” Trump said in a post on the Truth Social site.

“A decorated Army Helicopter Pilot and former Police Officer, Gabe has served our Nation with Great Honor and Distinction. In Congress, he is fighting to Secure the Border, Champion American Energy, Defend the Second Amendment, and Support our Brave Military, Veterans, and Law Enforcement.”

Added Trump: “Gabe Evans has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election — HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!”

Trump’s endorsement came on the eve of his 100th day in office, a traditional milestone marking the end of a new administration’s “honeymoon” period.

Along with Evans, Trump also endorsed four other GOP incumbents who represent targeted House districts on Monday: Arizona Rep. Juan Ciscomani, Wisconsin Rep. Derrick Van Orden, Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry and Virginia Rep. John McGuire

It’s the second time Trump has endorsed Evans, the former state lawmaker who unseated Democratic U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo last November in the closely divided district, which stretches from Adams County suburbs north of Denver to Greeley in Weld County.

Weeks before last summer’s primary — after the Colorado Republican Party had formally endorsed Evans’ primary opponent, former state Rep. Janak Joshi, R-Colorado Springs — Trump endorsed Evans in a similarly worded statement, predicting that Evans would be “an INCREDIBLE fighter in Congress.”

The 8th CD, the state’s newest congressional district, is rated as a tossup by national election analysts and is being targeted by both major parties ahead of next year’s midterm elections.

Evans has already drawn two potential Democratic challengers — Caraveo, who launched her bid for a rematch earlier this month, and state Rep. Manny Rutinel, D-Commerce City, who kicked off his campaign in January and raised more than $1.1 million in the year’s first quarter.

Evans welcomed Trump’s endorsement in a post on social media.

“Thank you Mr. President!” Evans said on X. “I am dialed in on making sure our community is free of criminal illegal immigrant gangs and making Colorado a safer place to live, work, and raise a family. Proud to be fighting for #CO08 in Congress.”

Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib told Colorado Politics that Evans had earned Trump’s endorsement by falling in line with the Republican’s agenda.

“It’s not surprising, he’s competing for employee of the month, so congratulations to Gabe!” Murib said.

A spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee applauded Trump’s endorsement in a release.

“President Trump’s powerful endorsement adds to Representative Gabe Evans’s growing momentum for 2026,” said Zach Bannon in a statement. “Representative Evans has been hard at work, delivering a secure border, safer streets, and lower costs for Coloradans — and he’s not letting up.”
