Florida attorney general launches criminal investigation into Tate brothers

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has announced that his office will be opening a criminal investigation into Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate, a week after the controversial brothers arrived in the Sunshine State.

Both brothers have been accused of trafficking minors, rape, and money laundering and were detained in Romania for over two years pending charges. Romanian officials have said the charges still stand and the brothers will be expected in court, although a trial date has not been set. Both Tate brothers deny the allegations.

The Tate brothers, who are dual U.S.-U.K. citizens, arrived in Florida last week and were quickly denounced by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who said the state would be looking into their alleged conduct. Uthmeier said on Tuesday after a review of the evidence against them that he has ordered a criminal investigation into the brothers.

“Last week, I directed my office to work with our law enforcement partners to conduct a preliminary inquiry into Andrew and Tristan Tate. Based on a thorough review of the evidence, I’ve directed the Office of Statewide Prosecution to execute search warrants and issue subpoenas in the now-active criminal investigation into the Tate brothers,” Uthmeier said.

DESANTIS SAYS ANDREW TATE NOT WELCOME IN FLORIDA

Andrew Tate responded to the announcement by claiming he “didn’t commit any crime” and that prosecutors were “trying to find one because they don’t like me.” He also attempted to liken it to the criminal cases filed against President Donald Trump.

The Tate brothers’ attorney, Joseph McBride, said in a lengthy post on X that Uthmeier’s statements have been “inflammatory, biased, and designed to affect the outcome of our pending civil suit in Palm Beach Court.”
