Kevin Cramer recovering from concussion and brain bleed after falling on ice

Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) is recovering from a concussion he sustained after taking a “hard fall” on the ice at his North Dakota home over the weekend.

Cramer said in a post on Facebook that he was diagnosed by doctors with “a severe concussion, a seizure, and a slight brain bleed” after the fall on Sunday and that he would remain in the state while he recovers.

“I am better today with only a slight brain bleed and pretty bad headaches. Doctors prefer I rest a little longer before returning to DC, so I do not know exactly when that will happen. It will be day to day this week, but I am ready to return quickly if events require it,” Cramer said on Monday.

The North Dakota senator posted pictures of blood on the ice and the injury to his head alongside the statement.

He followed up with a post on Tuesday, saying he was out of the hospital but still resting at home with his wife, Kris.

“I’m happy to be recovering at home with a bottle of Kepra (anti-seizure medicine) and Kris. The head still hurts a bit, but I sleep a lot. Thank you to all of the folks praying for a full recovery. God is good!” Cramer said Tuesday.

President Donald Trump wished Cramer a speedy recovery, calling the accident a “close call.”

“Our Great Senator from North Dakota, Senator Kevin Cramer, just recently slipped on ice, and hit his head, causing quite an injury. He is now resting comfortably, but went through a lot. His wonderful wife, Kris, is with him, and I’m sure he will be fine, but it was a close call!” Trump posted on Truth Social.

“Get well soon Kevin, and thank you to Kris for her quick and very alert response to Kevin’s difficult moment!” Trump added.

Cramer, 64, was first elected to the Senate in 2018 and won reelection last November.
