Aviator and Academy Award-winning actor Harrison Ford was among the honorees and delivered a video acknowledgment because scheduling issues prevented him from attending the Sept. 26 gala held at the museum.

Ford, who has attended previous Wings Museum events, has recorded a film that is shown in the museum’s Harrison Ford Theater. The film features him flying his private plane while giving viewers a look at aviation in general and the museum in particular. “Space: The New Frontier” is currently showing in the Harrison Ford Theater.

The actor, perhaps best known for his starring roles in the Indiana Jones films, has received further museum accolades in the naming of the Harrison Ford Aviation Legacy Award. Recipients of this award include the late Peter Paul Luce, a Denver resident and son of Time, Inc. founder and editor-in-chief Henry Luce, who flew more than 200 humanitarian missions delivering organs to patients in need of transplants.

In addition to Ford, the 2024 Aviation Visionaries were:

• Clay Lacy, founder and former chief executive officer of Clay Lacy Aviation

• Terry Combs, a businessman and aviator

• Larry Mizel, executive chairman of MDC Holding and founder of the Mizel Institute

• Anthony Mayer, president of Captiva Resources and owner of ARTA Tequila

• Diane Wallach, partner at MCT Incorporated

About the organization: Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum is dedicated to unlocking dreams of flight through exhibitions, events and educational programming at two locations: the museum itself in Denver’s Lowry neighborhood and Exploration of Flight at Centennial Airport. Approximately 160,000 people visit these locations annually. Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum is located in Hangar 1 of the former Lowry Air Force Base and its 100,000 square feet of exhibition space is home to iconic aircraft, space vehicles, artifacts, military uniforms and more.
