Colorado wildfire doubles in size again to more than 5,000 acres, 0% containment

The Alexander Mountain Fire located west of Loveland has again doubled in size, growing to 5,080 acres with no containment. Fire activity is expected to increase on Wednesday, too, with hot and dry conditions to be met with winds.

Firefighters continue to work to protect communities close to this blaze, including Cedar Cove, Cedar Park, Storm Mountain, and Sylvan Dale Ranch, as well as eastern communities.

Investigators are still working to track down the origin of the fire, asking the public to submit photographs and video that might be related to the fire’s start online.

At last report, there has been no loss of infrastructure or structures related to this blaze. That said, numerous mandatory evacuation zones remain in place.

Stone Canyon Fire also burns along the Front Range near Lyons. At last report, it has reached 1,320 acres but did not have significant growth overnight.
