Colorado politicians condemn shooting at Trump rally: ‘Violence is never acceptable’
Colorado’s elected leaders condemned the shooting at a campaign rally held by Donald Trump, who was whisked off the stage after the gunshots rang through the crowd.
Trump’s campaign said he is “fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.” The former president was showing off a chart of border crossing numbers during the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when bangs started ringing through the crowd. Officials said the gunman is dead and one attendee was killed.
The Secret Service said the shooting is being investigated as an assassination attempt.

U.S. Reps. Lauren Boebert and Doug Lamborn said they are praying for Trump.
“I am praying for President Trump, his family, and everyone in attendance today. We all wish him a speedy recovery from any harm done to him,” Lamborn said on X.
“Praying for President Trump and the people in Butler, Pennsylvania!” Boebert also said on X.
“Throughout history, those who hate God and embrace evil have joined forces with one another to oppose God, His Son, His Holy Spirit, and His people.”
She added: “WE ARE ONE NATION UNDER GOD and WE WILL OVERCOME EVIL!”
In a statement, Gov. Jared Polis said he’s glad Trump is doing well and added that “violence is never acceptable.”

“I’m glad to hear President Trump is doing well following this terrible act of violence. Violence is never acceptable. My thoughts are with President Trump and everyone impacted by this inexcusable act that I strongly condemn. I thank the members of law enforcement for their swift action to ensure the safety of the former President and people in attendance,” Polis said.
