Finalists announced for vacant El Paso County court judge position

The Fourth Judicial District Nominating Commission announced three finalists for a vacant El Paso County court judge position Tuesday. 

The vacancy was created by the appointment of Dennis Luzinas McGuire to the vacant 4th Judicial District Judge position in Teller County. 

The three finalists are Douglas Bechtel of Castle Rock, Marika Frady of Colorado Springs and Christopher Strider of Manitou Springs, according to a news release from the Colorado Judicial Branch.

Betchel is currently a prosecutor for the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Frady is an attorney for the Frady Law Firm, a self-owned law firm located in Colorado Springs, and Strider is a county attorney for El Paso County. 

Gov. Jared Polis has until July 24 to select one of the three finalists, according to the news release.
