Biden urged to curb his ‘narcissism’ and drop out this week

A longtime Democratic pollster who considers President Joe Biden one of the “greatest” ever is calling on him to quit the 2024 campaign this week to allow for an orderly transition to a replacement party nominee.

“He’s got to leave this week,” pollster John Zogby said. “What Democrats need to do is start with a new face right at the time that the Republicans are gathering at their convention in Milwaukee and can steal the thunder away from Trump and away from the Republicans,” he said.

Zogby, who grades Biden every Saturday in the White House Weekly Report Card for Secrets, has typically given the president high marks, especially on the economy and job creation.

In his latest podcast with his son and pollster Jeremy Zogby, he said that Biden “can be ranked among the greatest presidents in United States history.”

But Biden’s inability to shake off his poor debate performance and the growing evidence that his mental failings are becoming more frequent have John Zogby calling for an end to the Biden presidency.

He dished three reasons:

The media’s (and the public’s) attention to Biden’s woes will not end. Biden “lacks the capability” of shifting the focus to his successes as president.

Biden’s ego has become too big. Referring to Biden’s post-Trump debate interviews, John Zogby said: “It was all I, I, I, me, me, me. I’m the only person who can. Almost a destiny, almost a megalomania, almost a sense of narcissism. And that is why he’s staying in the race. And that to me is troubling because he’s not the only person involved.”

Jeremy Zogby, meanwhile, added a fourth reason: retaining power.

“What’s going on here is the Biden family is a very privileged family. The Biden family, some may argue, a lot may argue, are almost too privileged. And they don’t want to let go of that power,” the younger Zogby said.
