Proposed settlement between Pinkerton and city attorney’s office rejected

The executive director of Denver’s Department of Excise and Licenses has rejected a proposed settlement between Denver’s city attorney and Pinkerton Consulting & Investigations Inc., a private security company investigated for deploying an unlicensed security guard, who faces murder charges.
Matthew Dolloff has been charged for the the fatal shooting of 49-year-old Lee Keltner following opposing rallies in Civic Center park in October.
Following the rejection of Pinkerton’s tentative settlement, an administrative hearing about the company’s license has been scheduled for Feb. 3. A hearing was originally scheduled for Dec. 8 but cancelled when the tentative settlement was reached, pending approval by Department of Excise and Licenses Executive Director Ashley Kilroy.
Pinkerton contracted with Isborn Security Services, the company that employed Dolloff, to provide him as a plainclothes private security guard for 9News staff at the rallies. Isborn reached a settlement earlier this month to give up its private security employer license in Denver and cannot reapply for five years. The company also cannot dissolve itself and apply for a new license within the five-year period, according to Department of Excise and Licenses spokesperson Eric Escudero.
However, Escudero said in an email he couldn’t release details about terms of the now-rejected settlement.

Pinkerton and Isborn also received criminal citations in November for a municipal code violation for hiring or directing an unlicensed security guard.
A confrontation between Dolloff and Keltner ended fatally as groups who had attended a “Patriot Muster” rally and a “BLM-Antifa Soup Drive” in Civic Center dispersed. Photos and video footage show Dolloff firing at Keltner as Keltner sprayed a cloud of pepper spray or mace at Dolloff. Following the shooting, inquiries by news outlets including The Denver Gazette revealed Dolloff did not hold a private security guard license in Denver.
