Millennial Policy Center releases papers on nuclear energy, Azerbaijan
The younger-focused, conservative Millennial Policy Center in Denver is releasing two reports this week, taking on nuclear power and relations with Azerbaijan, respectively.
“We are thrilled to finally release the first two of several projects to be released before Christmas,” Jimmy Sengenberger, the think tank’s president, said in a statement. “Our team has put tremendous effort into educating our fellow millennials about issues that matter to our generation – whether they may realize an issue is important or not.”
The policy center’s energy and environment fellow, Andrew Barness, authored the paper on nuclear power, mixing environmental and energy issues and concluding with the need to expand the use of the source and recommendations on how to go about it.
“The debate over energy production and environmental protection has become an all-or-nothing battle between keeping the economy alive or saving the planet,” Barness stated. “But this is a false choice. Proof of this comes from an economical, environmentally friendly energy source: nuclear power. America pioneered nuclear energy after World War II but then allowed it to go dormant.
“Today, nuclear offers a real answer to the Green New Deal fit for any fan of AOC or Greta Thunberg – and a practical way to keep America’s economy prosperous while protecting our environment.”

It’s the first of two reports on the issues, with a second release expected in about a week, the center said.
The Millennial Policy Center’s foreign affairs fellow, Samuel Lourie, examines the with U.S. relationship with Azerbaijan, a former Soviet bloc country in Eastern Europe. The paper is coauthored by Sengenberger and Dr. Vugar Shahbazli, an expert of Azerbaijan history and relations and a visiting fellow in geopolitics and healthcare at the Millennial Policy Center.
The paper also is the first of the center’s steps into foreign affairs, to be followed by an examination of the Trump administration’s Middle East peace plan, and opinion pieces on the subjects.
“When Americans think of U.S. allies, most probably don’t think of Azerbaijan. Yet the fate of Europe’s energy security could hinge upon Azerbaijan, impacting American interests,” Lourie said in a statement. “Located at the nexus of Eurasia, Azerbaijan brings together the powers of east and west, plays a crucial role in the flow of global trade, and is a leading U.S. partner in counterterrorism. Policymakers should take note and capitalize on the many opportunities to deepen collaboration.”
