VA worker in Colorado pleads guilty to taking bribes
A former U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs employee in Colorado has pleaded guilty to accepting bribes in exchange for rigging federal contracts.
The Denver Post reports 55-year-old Dwane Nevins has pleaded guilty to six corruption-related counts.
Authorities say Nevins agreed to take bribes from an undercover FBI agent to manipulate a contract bidding process while working as a small business specialist.
Authorities say Nevins also arranged with two others to rig contracts in the department’s Colorado network contracting office.
Authorities say Anthony Bueno pleaded guilty last week to conspiring to make payments and businessman Robert Revis pleaded guilty in April for his involvement.
Nevins is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 20 and faces 65 years in prison.
Bueno and Revis are scheduled to be sentenced in January.
