New road planned from Mead to Loveland to decrease I-25 traffic

Colorado projects are working to decrease traffic on Interstate 25.

Construction is underway to widen express lanes on the highway, and a plan for a new road from Mead to Loveland was introduced last week, reports the Denver Post.

The road would be built through towns including Berthoud, Johnstown and Mead. Some residents are not on board.

“I moved out to this place to get out of the middle of it,” said Mead resident Doug Staver to the Post. “Now I’m in the middle of it again.”

Weld County officials told the Post that Colorado’s growth will continue whether or not the new road is built, and that the state must prepare for the increasing population by updating transportation infrastructure.

Multiple lanes of traffic crawl slowly on southbound Interstate 25 as exhaust fumes rise into the air on cold winter day.
