Colorado joins investigation into possible Facebook anti-trust violations

Colorado’s attorney general will help investigate whether a popular social media site endangered consumer data.

“Colorado is on the leadership team of a bipartisan coalition of attorneys general investigating Facebook for possible antitrust violations,” Attorney General Phil Weiser said in a Friday news release. “This investigation is focused on whether Facebook has engaged in anticompetitive behavior, endangered consumer data and put the privacy of users at risk.”

Also investigating are the attorneys general of Florida, Iowa, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and the District of Columbia.

“At the Attorney General’s Office, we are charged with enforcing antitrust laws and protecting consumers,” Weiser said. “It is important that we look into concerns about the power of internet platform companies and their impact on Coloradans.”
