Primavera Dancing

Colorado Lt. Gov. Dianne Primavera showed off her dancing skills Saturday in a performance that raised money for arts-in-education programs.

Primavera donned leopard leggings and danced to “The Lion King” classic “Circle of Life” in the annual Dancing with the Denver Stars competition, in its 10th year.

“It was an honor to participate in the Dancing with the Denver Stars Gala on Saturday night!” Primavera tweeted on Monday. “A huge thank you to my partner, Davry Ratcliffe from Cleo Parker Robinson Dance!”

The lieutenant governor isn’t typically as active on Twitter as her boss, but she tweeted photos before and during the event.

Primavera joined 12 other dancers from Colorado foundations, companies and law firms, including the president of Metropolitan State University of Denver and the CEO of the Colorado Health Foundation.

There was no winner at the event other than the kids who benefited from the fundraising, according to a statement from Cleo Parker Robinson Dance.

“The dancers who participate in this event work hard to gather up their courage to perform and connect kids to our programs in their schools,” the statement said. “These dancers, all of them, are stars!”

Over the event’s decade-long history, funds have been raised for arts-in-education programs serving 77 schools and reaching 17,000 students, according to the statement.
