Denver Public Works officials exit following probe
An official at Denver Public Works has been dismissed and another manager has resigned after the two were placed on paid administrative leave two months ago for an internal investigation.
Doug Legg, Denver Public Works street maintenance manager, was dismissed and Kelly Duffy resigned her position as director of street maintenance.
A dismissal letter addressed to Legg details complaints brought forward by 13 employees against Legg.
“All of the persons interviewed complained that you have a reputation [of] yelling and bullying, and rude, hateful and intimidating conduct towards them and lower level employees,” states Legg’s dismissal letter.
The letter also alleges fiscal violations involving trips Legg and Duffy took to Germany and Italy that were mostly paid for by two vendors. Following the trips, street sweeping equipment from one of the vendors was purchased without taking additional bids from other vendors, the city alleges.
The city is not commenting on any allegations involving Duffy.
