Ready Colorado, Better Jobs hit radio for Walker Stapleton, education

An independent expenditure committee is spending $50,000 for Front Range radio spots to promote Walker Stapleton’s support of conservative educational values.

Colorado Politics has been telling you for a while of the hundreds of thousands of dollars the teachers’ union, the Colorado Education Association, and other left-leaning education groups are spending to promote Democrat Cary Kennedy for governor.

The spot that began airing Wednesday features Ready Colorado, a conservative nonprofit that supports broader school choices than tradition public schools (with unionized teachers) – “public, private, charter, traditional, magnet, virtual or home school,” Ready Colorado says on its website.

It was paid for by the Better Jobs Coalition, a group of conservatives led by businessman and Republican politico Rick Enstrom.

The $50k ad buy is interesting partly because Better Jobs reported just $585.30 in its account as of June 13, the cut-off for its last financial report with the Secretary of State’s Office. It reported no donations and $50 in spending last quarter.

Here’s the radio ad’s script:

Hi, my name is Luke Ragland, I’m the President of Ready Colorado, the state’s leading conservative voice for education reform. Ready Colorado is proud to endorse Walker Stapleton for Governor. Walker Stapleton will strive every day to make Colorado’s schools the best schools in the nation.

Walker Stapleton is a dad and he cares about our kids. But he’s also a fighter – he’ll fight to end the union blockade against school choice, and demand more from administrators and school districts when they underperform. Most importantly, Walker Stapleton will stand up to the special interests that stand in the way of better schools.

Walker Stapleton has a plan to improve our schools and give parents more options for their kids. He’ll cut waste in the Denver education bureaucracy, and make sure that education dollars get to teachers, textbooks and classrooms all across our great state.

If you want a governor who cares about our kids and will push to improve our schools, vote for Walker Stapleton. Walker Stapleton will strive every day to make Colorado’s schools the best schools in the nation.
