Colo. gamblers put big bucks in historical preservation projects
Gamblers indirectly invested $418,987 in 17 projects deemed historic preservation, according to History Colorado.
When voters statewide approved gambling in Black Hawk, Central City and Cripple Creek in 1990, they designated a portion of the tax haul for the State Historical Fund to fund “projects that tell the story of Colorado’s history and generate meaningful economic activity, especially in rural communities,” History Colorado said in announcing a list of grants of less than $35,000 Thursday.
Grants of more than $35,000 will be announced on Aug. 1.
