The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel: Don’t gamble with lottery proceeds

It’s hard to imagine what Mesa County – or any place in Colorado, for that matter – would look like without the Colorado Lottery. Since 1983, the lottery has returned more than $3 billion in proceeds to the people of Colorado for projects in all 64 counties that have improved the quality of life and aided economic development.

Colorado is the only state that distributes 100 percent of lottery proceeds to support outdoor recreation and land conservation. Proceeds from the lottery have built trails, playgrounds, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, rodeo grounds, secured open spaces and improved wildlife habitat and state parks across the state.
