The Pueblo Chieftain: City boosts Doss jobs

The city of Pueblo and L3 Doss Aviation both see benefits in their growing relationship at Pueblo Memorial Airport. Last week, the Pueblo City Council approved a $2.9 million contribution from Pueblo Economic Development Corp. funds for job recruitment that commits Doss to hire an additional 60 employees, thus bringing the Initial Flight Training program workforce here to 192 jobs.

Doss has pledged to meet the jobs commitment by 2020 or to start refunding the city’s contribution then.

The key to the Doss expansion at the airport was landing a 10-year extension to an Air Force contract for the military flight training program. Pueblo officials strongly supported Doss in competition with three other flight-training companies and cities vying for the contract valued at $290 million over 10 years.
