Brauchler picks up law enforcement support in governor’s race

George Brauchler announced Monday that 10 district attorneys and 13 sheriffs are endorsing his run for governor in the Republican primary.
Brauchler is the district attorney for Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties.
“As district attorney for nearly 1 million Coloradans, I understand well the threats our communities face,” Brauchler said in a statement. “Throughout my career, I have proudly stood with the men and women of law enforcement, while always encouraging improvement and accountability. I have made upholding the rule of law a pillar of my campaign and I am pleased to announce that law enforcement leaders from all around Colorado have joined in support of my candidacy for governor.”

Brauchler’s campaign released statements from some of the sheriffs:
“I support George Brauchler for governor because of his commitment to upholding the rule of law and keeping our communities safe.” Valdez said in a statement released by Brauchler’s campaign. “He is approachable, willing to listen about issues, but most of all is sincere in what he has to say about issues facing all of Colorado.”
Added Spurlock, “George’s innovative decision to create specialized prosecution units has generated outstanding judicial efficiency for the largest judicial district in Colorado. George’s background has provided him an objective understanding of the complicated facets that exist within the criminal justice system, at local, state and national levels. I enthusiastically endorse and support George Brauchler as governor for the great state of Colorado.”
Brauchler was elected district attorney of the 18th Judicial District in 2012. In the GOP gubernatorial primary, he faces eight other candidates, including state Treasurer Walker Stapleton and entrepreneur Victor Mitchell.
