Steve Schuck throws support behind lone Republican in Springs CU regent race

If anyone intends to get in next year’s race for the University of Colorado regent seat from Colorado Springs, they best get cracking. Chance Hill continues to Hoover up the key endorsements, announcing Tuesday morning he nabbed another big one, Steve Schuck.

Last week Colorado Politics reported that an endorsement from Secretary of State Wayne Williams was about as good as it gets for the Republican newcomer, a local lawyer and former CIA agent in his freshman run for office.

Now Colorado Politics is not so sure. Here are the bullet points on the real estate developer and school choice advocate. (He lists being chairman of his company last in his endorsement letter:

Hill remains the only candidate in the race to succeed Kyle Hybl, who is term-limited. Hybl also has endorsed Hill.

Here’s what Shuck wrote about Hill in the endorsement:

Dear Fellow Coloradoans,

Please join me in support of Chance Hill. Education “is where it is at”, and Chance’s background, life experience, and commitment have prepared him extremely well to handle the difficult and important challenge of leading the University of Colorado System.

Chance will protect and advance the invaluable contribution UCCS makes to our local economy and our overall quality of life. Electing Chance Hill to the CU Board of Regents will continue the tradition of talented, dedicated, selfless service provided by those who have represented us for decades.

Please visit Chance’s website at www.chanceforcuregent.com to support him in any way you can.

Thanks for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Steve Schuck

Hill said Schuck is planning a fundraiser for the campaign. As of June 30, on his last disclosure to the state, Hill had raised more than $30,000, borrowed about $5,000 and spent about $6,900.
