This week at the Capitol: Critical budget and other issues come down to wire

Here are the legislative committee hearings of note for the week ahead in the Colorado Capitol. Committee schedules are subject to change. The daily schedule is available on the legislature’s website.

Monday

Joint Budget Committee conference on the state budget, or Long Bill, at 9 a.m. in the JBC Hearing Room.

House Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources, 1:30 p.m., Room 107

House Bill 1367 to authorize marijuana clinical research.

Senate Judiciary, 1:30 p.m., Room 352

House Bill 1331 to protect Colorado constitutional rights against a federal crackdown, with a focus on marijuana.

Senate State, Veterans and Military Affairs, 1:30 p.m., Room 357

House Bill 1305 to limit criminal history checks for job applicants.

Senate Joint Resolution 33 to recognize Earth Day.

House Bill 1328 to require candidates to disclose income tax returns.

Senate Business, Labor and Technology, 2 p.m., Room 354

House Bill 1279, a compromise bill on construction defect litigation reform that is finally expected to pass the legislature.

Senate Bill 155, a more controversial construction defect effort to define it in statute.

Tuesday

Senate Appropriations, 8:40 a.m., Room 357

Senate Bill 267, an effort to restructure the Hospital Provider Fee while lowering the state spending limit base. Bill has been delayed repeatedly.

Senate Finance, 2 p.m., Room 357

Senate Bill 303, a second effort at funding roads and highways.

Wednesday

Conference Committee, 8:30 a.m., Room 354

Senate Bill 184 to work out differences after marijuana clubs was stripped from the bill.

House Local Government, 1:30 p.m., Old Supreme Court Chamber

House Bill 1327 to repeal Columbus Day.

House State, Veterans and Military Affairs, 1:30 p.m., Room 271

Senate Bill 281 to hold local government officials accountable for enabling a sanctuary city.

Senate Bill 9 to exempt business personal property taxes.

Senate Agriculture, Natural Resources and Energy, upon adjournment, Room 357

Senate Bill 301, an effort that has traction to restructure certain energy programs and statutes.

Senate State, Veterans and Military Affairs, 1:30 p.m., Room 357

House Bill 1336 to limit “forced pooling” of mineral rights.

House Bill 1276 to restrict restraining students.

Thursday

House Transportation and Energy, upon adjournment, Room 112

House Bill 1348 to prohibit requiring three passengers to use an express lane.

House Health, Insurance and Environment, 1:30 p.m., Room 107

House Bill 1366 to define goals to achieve a Climate Action Plan.
