The Pueblo Chieftain editorial: There are other call centers out there; let’s persuade them to move to Pueblo
Pueblo received some bad news last week as Express Scripts announced it will close its 300-worker customer service call center in Pueblo’s Midtown shopping center in April.
A spokesman for the company said the pharmacy benefits manager operation will close because more clients are using the company’s online services. Therefore, fewer utilize call centers.
Pueblo Economic Development Corp. President Jeff Shaw said the announcement was “a shock to us, to the community. It really emphasizes what we do and why it’s so important and how aggressive we have to be.”
“.?.?. Our hearts go out to the families and the employees that are losing the jobs over there and we’re going to do whatever we can to replace them as fast as we can.”
